Amazon Launches #AtHome Section on Fire TV and Fire Tablet, Makes Searching for Content Easier

Stephanie Sengwe

As quarantine periods across the nation have been extended and government and healthcare officials continue to encourage people to stay at home, Amazon is trying to make people’s viewing options easier to navigate. The company announced the launch of #AtHome, a new destination on Fire TV and Fire Tablet devices in the U.S.

The new feature aggregates content from a host of Amazon’s content partners and makes searching for content easier. With films streaming early, premium content becoming available for free and many services offering extended free trials, finding content can become tasking. With #AtHome, content is organized under categories such “Stay Informed” or “New and Trending,” narrowing down the search process.

Current categories included under #AtHome are Entertainment, News, Kids & Family, Education for Kids, Health & Wellness, Community & Giving and Connectivity. The feature will launch in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Canada and India soon, the company stated.

The news comes days after Amazon Prime Video announced they will be adding HBO original series, Warner Bros. movies and 20 “Sesame Street” episodes to their platform for free. The company struck a deal with HBO and now Amazon account holders in the U.S. can stream all episodes of HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” “Barry,” “Ballers,” “Silicon Valley” and “Succession. The list of Warner Bros. movies includes “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part,” “Pokémon Detective Pikachu” and “Smallfoot.” In addition, select recent episodes of “Sesame Street” are also available.

In March, Amazon gave access to children’s content that was previously exclusive to Prime Video customers, including Amazon original series “Just Add Magic,” “Pete the Cat” and “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.” Select seasons of PBS Kids shows such as “Arthur,” “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood,” “Odd Squad” and “Wild Kratts” are also available, and in Europe, third-party content includes “Peppa Pig” and “Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom.”
