Apple TV+ Head of Programming Stepping Down Less Than 2 Weeks After Launch

Jason Gurwin

Less than two weeks after the launch of Apple TV+, the company’s head of current scripted programming, Ken Rozenfeld, is stepping down according to Deadline. Rozenfeld instead will go back to producing content with Apple TV+ having first dibs on the content.

Apple TV+ exclusively has original series and films. Unlike Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, it doesn’t carry any library content like old TV shows and blockbuster movies. This puts even more pressure on the streamer to keep releasing hit shows.

The report says that Apple TV+ that Matt Cherniss, who was overseeing scripted development for Apple, will now take over current programming as well. The news comes after Apple renewed all their debut shows, “Dickinson, “See”, “For All Mankind”, and “The Morning Show” for second seasons.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Apple TV+ saw millions of viewers over the first weekend. The service is currently free for one-year for anyone who purchased a iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV. For everyone else, the service is $5 a month after a 7-Day Free Trial.

While the service hasn’t appealed to critics, most of Apple’s shows have received positive reviews from viewers.
