Barça TV Plus Launches in 3 Languages, Carries FC Barcelona Soccer Games in Delayed or On-Demand Format
FC Barcelona has launched Barça TV+, with 3,000 videos and 1,000 hours of content, viewable on demand.
The new free digital service is available worldwide, via the club’s website and apps, in three languages: Catalan, Spanish and English.
The platform carries first-team games in a delayed or on-demand format, press conferences and B-squad and women’s matches.
Other content includes exclusive series and in-house docs, such as “Ready! Antoine Griezmann’s Challenges,” and “What’s Next?” with soccer legends discussing their lives post-play. Also, “Dare to Play” focuses on Barça women, while “The 9” profiles some of the team’s greatest strikers. These shows join an animated fiction series, “Talent Explorers.”
The decision to launch a subscription-based platform is part of a larger strategy for Spanish soccer clubs to own their digital platforms without intermediaries.
Viewers can also access the last five seasons and 65 of the biggest games ever played by the team, such as the different Copa del Rey Finals and the Champions League Finals played in London, Paris, Rome and Berlin.
Barça claims 350 million online followers.
Dídac Lee, a board of directors member, called Barça TV+ “the jewel in the crown, in the club’s new digital strategy.”
The club has its own basic cable channel in Spain, the 24/7 Barça TV, carried by major pay-TV operators Movistar Plus, Orange TV and Vodafone.
