CBS All Access to Add Kids Programming Including ‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs’, ‘Inspector Gadget’, and ‘Danger Mouse’

On today’s Q2 Earnings Call, CBS announced that they will be adding 1,000 episodes of kids programming to CBS All Access later this year. The content will include library of shows Danger Mouse and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, as well as new seasons which have been ordered by CBS All Access. Other classic shows joining the service are Inspector Gadget, The Adventures of Paddington Bear, Madeline, and Heathcliff.

The announcement comes as kids programming has reentered the spotlight with the upcoming launch of Disney+ in November. Earlier this year, Netflix acquired Storybots, the educational content company behind the kids’ series Ask the StoryBots. In 2016, WarnerMedia-owned HBO acquired the rights to Sesame Street, while Apple TV+ is launching a coding education series called Helpsters, in conjunction with Sesame Workshop.

CBS announced that the average age of CBS All Access subscribers is 42, with the vast majority of users in the 18-49 demographic. While time spent is already up 60% year-over-year, resulting from the addition of original series, they hope with children content — subscribers and their kids will watch even more.
