Dish Network May Lose TEGNA Local Affiliates on October 6th in Carriage Dispute

Yet another carriage dispute has surfaced. Dish Network and local channel operator, TEGNA, have until 9pm ET on October 6th to reach a new deal to continue to carry their local affiliates. If they fail to reach an agreement roughly 64 TEGNA television stations from Dish Network customers including locals in Denver, Washington DC, San Diego, Hartford, Tampa, Jacksonville, and others.

This would not affect those with Sling TV, which only carry NBC and FOX owned-and-operated channels.

A spokesperson for TEGNA told The Streamable:
“We are committed to reaching a fair, market-based agreement with DISH based on the competitive terms we’ve used to reach deals with numerous other providers that reflect the current market. Thus far, DISH has refused to agree to such terms, which is why we have begun informing DISH customers that they may lose access to their local TEGNA station and our valuable programming. We hope that DISH is willing to negotiate a market-based deal before tomorrow night’s deadline, and doesn’t take away their customers’ local news, weather, sports and network programs.”

Last year, TEGNA local affiliates were dropped from DirecTV and AT&T TV for ~18 days, before the two sides were able to reach a deal. Dish Network is currently in a carriage dispute with Sinclair Broadcast Group, which has been in extension since Mid-August.
