Disney Confirms ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Will Debut in August, ‘WandaVision’ to Premiere in December

Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed today that Disney+ is slated to release at least two new Marvel series in 2020. The shows came up during a live conference call for Disney’s quarterly earning report.

“Falcon and The Winter Solider” is set to debut in August while “WandaVision” will premiere in December. Both series explore the relationship between a pair of Avengers characters. “Falcon” focuses on Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier). Meanwhile, “WandaVision” showcases the dynamic duo of Wanda Maximilian and The Vision.

Many eyes are currently on “Falcon.” The series, which will be directed by Kari Skogland, premieres between two big-budget Marvel films, “Black Widow” and “The Eternals.” The series will consist of six episodes and will star Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” respectively. Daniel Bruhl will also reprise his role as Marvel Cinematic Universe villain Helmut Zero.

“WandaVision” finds the title characters settling into domestic bliss, but being Marvel characters, you can be sure that won’t last long. The series is directed by Matt Shakman, and both Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bethany will continue to star as the two heroes.

Another show on Disney’s horizon is “Loki,” which stars Tom Hiddleston as the eponymous trickster god. Iger did not give a release date for Loki, but the show is expected to premiere in 2021.

Disney premiered all three shows in an ad that ran during Super Bowl LIV, which aired on Sunday, Feb. 2
