Disney+ UK has added yet another distributor to its roster ahead of its March 24 launch. According to Variety, the streamer has partnered with O2, making it the exclusive UK mobile network distributor.
“New and upgrading monthly customers to O2 with get six months of the streamer for free as part of their deal. Existing customers can add the £5.99 ($7.40) service and receive £2 ($2.50) off their plans. Subscribers will be able to watch Disney Plus content across mobile, online streaming and TV,” Variety reported.
Though O2 will be the exclusive mobile network distributor, the deal allows for other networks and devices to access Disney+.
Earlier this month, Disney signed an agreement with Comcast-owned Sky to bring the streaming service to Sky Q and Now TV in the UK and Ireland. “The deal also includes the first-pay window for 20th Century film titles such as ‘Le Mans ’66’ and ‘Terminator: Dark Fate,’ which will continue to be made available to Sky Cinema customers,” Variety reported.
The Sky partnership also made it possible for Disney+ UK to stream “The Simpsons,” which was previously entangled in some licensing complications.
The media giant also signed yet another multi-year distribution deal with the Spanish telecom company, Telefónica, which will see Disney+ launch on Movistar when it debuts in the country on March 24.
As previously announced, the streaming service will launch in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland on March 24. Additional Western Europe markets, including Belgium, the Nordics and Portugal, will follow in summer 2020.
