Keeping in line with all the early digital premieres that hit streaming services this year, Disney announced the film version of hit Broadway musical “Hamilton” will be skipping theaters and heading direct to Disney+ earlier than expected. The 11-time Tony Award-winning musical, which was supposed to hit theaters in October 2021, will now be available on July 3, exclusively on Disney+.
Now, for the first time, Lin-Manuel Miranda has dropped a first look at the trailer for the upcoming film.

Filmed at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway in June of 2016, “Hamilton,” was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also produced the show along with Jeffrey Seller and Thomas Kail, who directed the film. In addition to the 11 Tony Awards, the musical has also garnered a Grammy Award, Olivier Award and Pulitzer Prize.
The show features Tony Award winners Miranda as Alexander Hamilton; Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson; Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler; Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr; Tony Award nominees Christopher Jackson as George Washington; Jonathan Groff as King George; Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton; and Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds; Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison; and Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton.
The cast also includes Carleigh Bettiol, Ariana DeBose, Hope Easterbrook, Sydney James Harcourt, Sasha Hutchings, Thayne Jasperson, Elizabeth Judd, Jon Rua, Austin Smith, Seth Stewart and Ephraim Sykes.
