STIRR is modeled after other free ad-supported linear streaming services in the space. They will be taking on incumbents like Pluto.TV, tubiTV, and Xumo who each have 75+ free linear channels.

The biggest advantage that STIRR has is that they will be able to draw from Sinclair’s wide range of programming from their OTA channels and local affiliates. The company owns and operates over 160 local affiliates including 59 FOX, 41 ABC, 30 CBS, and 25 NBC affiliates, as well as OTA channels Stadium, Charge!, Comet, and TBD. The company, which also owns The Tennis Channel, has also been in talks to acquire Fox Sports RSNs that were acquired by Disney in their purchase of 21st Century Fox.
