FIRST LOOK: Here is a Walkthrough of the Disney+ Xbox App
Home Screen, App Tiles, Show Detail Page, Sidebar, Watch List, User Profiles, Avatars, Kids Mode
Today, we were able to get a walkthrough of the Disney+ Xbox app, after seeing a live demo of the Apple TV App, which has the elegance and beauty that you would expect from Disney. The app is straight forward, snappy (but not as snappy as the tvOS version), and has incredible imagery throughout.
Disney announced last week that it will be available on Apple TV, Roku, Android TV, Chromecast, iOS, Android, & Web at launch.
Featured Carousel
On top of the Disney+ Xbox app, there is a carousel of featured content, with animated tiles for each of Disney’s properties below. Tapping on a tile takes you to an exclusive experience designed for that content, like Pixar or Marvel.
App Tiles & Individual Sections
When you’re in an individual section, you can see featured shows and movies, as well as personalized recommendations based on your watch history.
Show & Movie Page
When you select a show or movie, it will take you see more details about the film — like Captain Marvel. For now, it doesn’t look like their are auto-playing trailers. You can either add it to your Watch List or Start/Resume playing.
Just like if you bought a digital copy of a movie, you will be able to watch Extras around films.
App Sidebar
Within the app sidebar, you can quickly access every series or movie on the platform, as well as a watchlist which includes shows that you haven’t quite gotten to yet.
User Profiles & Avatars
Each account will let you create up to 7 Profiles for the different members of your household. You can choose an avatar from some of your favorite Disney characters like Woody from Toy Story.
Watch List
While you’re browsing the app, you can add shows or movies to your Watch List. Each profile will have a unique Watch List, so you don’t need to get movies mixed up with the rest of the family.
Movies, Series, & Original Sections
You will also be able to select just movies and series — and even Disney+ originals, so you can quickly find what you want to watch.
Kids Mode
On the profiles, you can set an account to be in “Kids Mode”, which will give a unique experience just for children. It will feature kids-focused content for your family.
Simultaneous Streams
We learned that Disney+ will offer four simultaneous streams, and you can be logged into up to 10 devices at a time.
Offline Mode
While not shown in the demo, we also learned that you will be able to have unlimited downloads of Disney+ shows and movies on as many mobile and tablet devices as you want.
