Google Play Updates TV Apps, Upgrades Movies to 4K for Free

Google Play announced today that movies you’ve purchased will be automatically upgraded from HD to 4K for free.

They have also dropped the price on most 4K movies to under $20. Now, 4K movies will range from $13.99 - $19.99

The company also announced that they’ve redesigned their smart TV app for Samsung, Sony, and LG. The more modern app is now more similar to those on streaming media players like Roku.

Most Samsung and Sony Bravia television will stream movies purchased from Google Play in 4K, while they expect to add support to LG Smart TVs in the near future.
