Haystack TV, Local News Clips Aggregator, Now Covers 85% of Local Markets With Addition of Gray Television Locals

While most major networks have focused on national news, Haystack TV, has joined STIRR and CBSN to bring local news to cord-cutters. The service which aggregates video clips from local news affiliates, including breaking news and weather, announced today that they now cover 85% of local markets. The growth comes with the addition of 39 local affiliates from Gray Television after its acquisition of Raycom. The service now covers 206 local affiliates across 137 markets — including 82 of the Top 100 markets.

The service is available across major markets like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco — but also provides reach to smaller cities like Omaha, Mobile, Alabama & Fort Myers, Florida. While they don’t provide live telecasts like you would get OTA or with a Live TV Streaming Service, it provides access to much of the important content from your local newscasts, as well as national live news from CBSN.

When you set-up your account, you can customize your newscast to focus on topics you are most interested in. The focus is on local stories, but Haystack TV also mixes top news stories and other content based on your interests. They recently added content from OTT channels like Cheddar and Newsy.

Haystack TV is available for free on major streaming media players like Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, as well as iOS, Android, and Web at haystack.tv. The service is also available on both Sony and VIZIO Smart TVs.
