HBO Greenlights Fourth Season of ‘Westworld’

Fern Siegel

HBO’s “Westworld” just got another renewal.

Based on the 1973 Michael Crichton movie, the Emmy-winning “Westworld” is a drama about a futuristic amusement park run by robots where all desires are fulfilled.

Its third season kicked off March 15 and it’s gearing up for a fourth.

The dystopian series was created by the husband-and-wife team of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who double as executive producers. Nolan directed the season’s premiere episode, which garnered 9 million viewers cross-platform.

Nolan also created “Person of Interest.”

The “Westworld” third season cast includes Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson and Aaron Paul.

HBO describes the series as “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the question of free will.”

Kilter Films and Bad Robot Productions produce “Westworld” with Warner Bros. Television. Denise Thé, J.J. Abrams, Athena Wickham, Richard J. Lewis and Ben Stephenson are also executive producers.
