This is the first time the channel can be streamed on any vMVPD. Surprisingly, the channel is not available on AT&T-owned AT&T TV NOW. The deal will see the channel go live on Fubo in the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and portions of New Mexico on February 11. The channel will be available as part of the base Fubo ($44.99) package after a 7-Day Free Trial.
“We are thrilled to announce this deal with fuboTV and give fans even more options to watch the Houston Rockets and Houston Astros in their home market,” said Nina Kinch, Vice President of Affiliate Relations for AT&T Sports Networks.
Fubo has been quietly becoming the leading carrier of Regional Sports Networks. They offer MSG & MSG+ in New York, NESN in Boston, and Fox Sports & NBC Sports RSNs around the country.
“fuboTV continues to offer more regional sports networks (RSNs) than any other vMVPD – and entering the Houston market has been a priority for us,” said Ben Grad, Head of Content Strategy and Acquisition for fuboTV.
With the addition of AT&T SportsNet Southwest to Fubo, there are only six RSNs not available via streaming — Altitude, AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain, MASN, Root Sports Northwest, and Spectrum SportsNet.
Comparison of Regional Sports Networks Across Services
Regional Sports Networks (RSNs)
fuboTV, Hulu Live TV, Sling TV “Blue”, and YouTube TV offer regional sports networks (RSNs) in their base plans. DIRECTV NOW and PlayStation Vue require an upgrade plan to access RSNs.
For the most part, RSNs are restricted to those from NBC Sports and Fox Sports. Some services like fuboTV, offer MSG/MSG+ (New York) and NESN (Boston).
