After an eventful weekend with back-to-back races at Pocono last week, NASCAR is bringing the heat to Indianapolis this week. The car racing league hosts its Big Machine Hand Sanitizer 400 Race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday. The event will air live on Fox Sports 1, beginning at 4 p.m. ET.

Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin come into the race as the designated favorites. The two “have won a combined four of six races in June and have strong track history at The Brickyard. Harvick leads all active drivers with an average finish position of 8.95 at Indianapolis, while Hamlin ranks fifth at 12.36,” CBS Sports reports. While all eyes will be on Harvick and Hamlin, Kyle Busch will also be coming in as a top contender on Sunday.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will also make history this weekend as the venue will host the GMR Grand Prix, a competition under the NTT Indycar Series. This marks the first time Indycar and NASCAR are sharing a track on the same weekend, according to Indycar. No drivers will be allowed to compete in both races, however.
“The two car owners who have fielded cars that won both the Indianapolis 500 and Big Machine Hand Sanitizer 400 in the same year will enter cars in both Indycar and NASCAR races this weekend,” Indycar reports.
“Chip Ganassi, won both races in 2010 with Dario Franchitti and Jamie McMurray, respectively, will field three NTT Indycar Series entries and a pair of NASCAR Cup entries, while Roger Penske, who won both races in 2018 in addition to the GMR Grand Prix with drivers Will Power and Brad Keselowski, will field cars in the NTT Indycar Series, NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series,” Indycar noted.
