About ‘CSI: Vegas’

CSI: Vegas represents a return to form, of sorts, for CSI. The story and crew are going back to where everything all started, the Las Vegas Police Department, to take on a threat that is a lot bigger than most first-season threats represent. This time, the crew of the Crime Lab is facing down a threat that may not only shut down their entire operation but also set loose an avalanche of previously convicted killers on the city itself.

The Las Vegas PD’s Crime Lab — led by Maxine Roby (Paula Newsome) and a team of investigators — will now fight for its very existence against this new threat. Roby will be joined by head medical examiner Hugo Ramirez (Mel Rodriguez), Level III CSI Josh Folsom (Matt Lauria), and Level II CSI Allie Rajan (Mandeep Dhillon), who came to Las Vegas on the strength of a dream. Roby and her team won’t be alone, though; they’ll have some help from Gil Grissom (original series star William Peterson) and Sara Sidle (CSI co-star Jorja Fox), as they seek to put the Las Vegas Crime Lab back on a proper footing.

Others from the original series run, including Wallace Langham (as David Hodges) and Paul Guilfoyle (as Capt. Jim Brass), will return during the new series.

Steve Anderson got his start writing about direct to video movies almost 15 years ago. This was back in a time when video stores were a part of everyday life, as opposed to being roadside attractions like gator farms or the Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota. With that writing on the wall in huge day-glo capital letters and probably moving neon, Steve migrated to streaming, which was clearly the future of home entertainment. Steve has been an enthusiastic proponent of the home theater for years, however, and seeing streaming's growth has proven gratifying as a way to fill the video store's shoes.
