About Goliath
Goliath season four rejoins Billy Bob Thornton as Billy McBride. McBride once had a promising legal career, to the point where he founded a law firm with fellow attorney Donald Cooperman. Cooperman McBride was well on its way to being a powerhouse in the field, until one case ultimately set McBride on a self-destructive path. McBride had managed to free a murder suspect by using one of the finer points of the law in his favor. That suspect, once freed, then went on to murder an entire family.
That kind of thing never sits well, especially when you’re at least adjacently responsible, so McBride turned to drinking. Drinking in sufficient amounts, apparently, to have him relocate to an extended-stay hotel.
Now, McBride is desperate to redeem himself by fighting a legal system where anyone with sufficient cash and legal firepower—of the kind McBride himself once was—can walk away from just about anything. But McBride left more than troubles behind him; he also left a few grudges. One of these stems from his former partner, Donald Cooperman, who still holds one of those grudges against McBride.
McBride has fought his way through a variety of cases since; the previous season featured an almond farmer who was accused of causing someone’s death through excessive water usage and well-drilling. That particular scheme even involved the mayor of Los Angeles herself.
As for the fourth season, well, that’s fairly quiet right now. But with the official trailer talking about “one of the biggest” pharmaceutical lawsuits ever seen, it’s clear that “Goliath” means to go out with a bang.
Goliath
Once a powerful lawyer, Billy McBride is now burned out and washed up, spending more time in a bar than a courtroom. When he reluctantly agrees to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the biggest client of Cooperman & McBride, the massive law firm he helped create, Billy and his ragtag team uncover a vast and deadly conspiracy, pitting them all in a life or death trial against the ultimate Goliath.
