Hulu is Updating Their App Icon to Better Match Their New Interface

If you’re looking for your Hulu app on your home screen and can’t seem to find it, that’s because Hulu is rolling out a new icon on iOS and Apple TV. Gone is the bright green and in is a new black background with bold green text.

Hulu says that the update is meant to better match their recently launched interface changes across their apps. While the icon will update on iOS and Apple TV today, it is expected to rollout across the various platforms soon.

In late August, Hulu pushed an update to their iOS and Android Apps, which featured a complete overhaul of their Home menu. Now, when you scroll through content, you will see more than one show or movie. On iPad, there are now up to six tiles of content, while on iPhone you can see two at at time.

On Apple TV and Roku, they rolled out their new Live Guide which allows you to see 14-days of shows. It also allows you to quickly switch between All Channels, Favorites, Recents, and categories like Sports. The new guide adds an quick view panel, easier filtering, start-over icons, and an indicator if a game in blacked out in your city directly from the guide.

Last Fall, Hulu rolled out Night Mode on their web interface which allows you to switch to a darker interface with just a switch. With iOS13 adding native dark mode, could mobile devices be next? With the new app icon — they now have an identity that could match a darker experience in the app.
