Netflix is partnering with Imagine Impact to produce original content.
The project, a joint effort with Ron Howard-Brian Glazer’s company, is soliciting work from emerging screenwriters. An open submission process, overseen by Image, will pick film ideas from four genres, then present them to the streamer.
The submissions will be accepted through July 6.
Grazer and Howard stated: “As Impact continues to evolve the way that global talent is discovered, projects are developed and how the creative industry connects, this partnership demonstrates both companies’ commitment to improving the development system in order to generate more original, quality IP to meet the growing demand.”
Also today, Netflix debuted season two of high-school comedy “Mr. Iglesias.” The 12-episode sitcom, starring comedian Gabriel Iglesias, known for his show “I’m Not Fat… I’m Fluffy,” is about a well-intentioned history teacher trying to help struggling students at his alma mater in California.
In addition, the streamer assigned a release date, July 21, for the second season of “How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast).” The German coming-of-age drama is about two tech-savvy teens who built a drug empire. The series is based on a true story.
