Lionsgate to Stream ‘The Hunger Games,’ ‘Dirty Dancing’ and More on YouTube for Free

Movie nights under quarantine just got a little bit better as Lionsgate is offering up some of their classics for free. Under their “Lionsgate Live! A Night at the Movies” initiative, the studio will stream “The Hunger Games,” “La La Land,” “John Wick” and “Dirty Dancing” for free on YouTube on the next four Friday nights.

According to Variety, the initiative is geared toward “honoring the communal experience of watching films in movie theaters and supporting the people who make those places great.” The program is also backed by Fandango, the National Association of Theatre Owners, AMC Theatres, Regal and Cinemark Theatres.

Lionsgate will make a donation to the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation — an organization whose mission is to help employees in the film business who have been impacted by coronavirus. With “Lionsgate Live! A Night at the Movies,” the studio urges viewers to follow their lead and make donations to the foundation as well.

“Lionsgate Live! A Night at the Movies” begins this Friday, April 17 at 6 p.m. ET with the “The Hunger Games.” The program will be hosted by Jamie Lee Curtis, “who will share her own movie memories as she is joined by celebrities and YouTube personalities,” according to Variety.

Up next is “Dirty Dancing,” which will stream on April 24, followed by “La La Land” on May 1 and “John Wick” (which will require age registration) wraps up the initiative on May 8.
