On the heels of naming former Roku head Kelly Campbell as the new president of Peacock, word emerged that outgoing Peacock boss Gidon Katz is headed over to Roku.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Katz has been named to the newly-created position of Senior Vice President of Product, Customer Journeys, and Experience.
“From the end of this year, I will be joining Roku, a company that I have worked with and admired for almost 10 years and a company that shares Sky’s energy and confidence,” Katz said in an emailed statement announcing his departure from Peacock.
Katz said he was proud of the job he had done at Peacock with the launch, comparing it to his work with the launch of NOW TV in the UK.
“We managed to launch a truly unique streaming product in record time, whilst at the same time, building a global platform that will soon be spreading its wings,” he said. “I could not be prouder of what we achieved or the way we achieved it. I will miss you all enormously.”
Katz spent a total of 8.5 years at Sky and NBCU before his departure.
