With less than two days before the national launch of Peacock, the streaming service is still without a deal with Roku and Amazon Fire TV. On social media, the company have asked streamers, at least in the case of Roku, to help them get Peacock on their platform.

Interestingly enough, they are being a lot more civil when it comes to Amazon Fire TV, which could indicate that the two sides are closer to a deal (even though they don’t at this time).

On Facebook, Matt Strauss, Chairman of Peacock, responded to a customer complaint saying “Peacock is free to use and free to any platform that wants to distribute the app. Including Roku!! #freethebird”
Just a few days prior, he said in an interview that “it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon for us. Our launch date on July 15, is our launch date. We’re in discussions with everybody … we would like to have the app available on all platforms, but we’re committed to launching on the date that we set forth.”
The company says “we currently have deals to distribute Peacock on Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD; Google platforms and devices including Android, Android TV devices, Chromecast and Chromecast built-in devices; Microsoft’s Xbox One family of devices, including Xbox One S and Xbox One X; VIZIO SmartCast™ TVs; LG Smart TVs; Comcast’s Xfinity X1 and Flex devices, and more to come!”
For Roku and Fire TV users, hopefully “more to come” is sooner rather than later.
