Philo Launches Live TV Streaming Service on Android – Including Amazon Fire Tablets
Philo announced today that you can now watch their 58-channel entertainment-focused Live TV Streaming Service on their much anticipated Android app. The service previously could be used in the Chrome Browser on Android smartphones, but only worked with a limited set of Android devices.
The new native app will work on most Android smartphones & tablets (Android 5.0+), and even on Amazon Fire tablets (Fire OS 5+). It includes familiar features like Trending Live, Live Grid Guide, User Profiles, powerful search, and of course your Unlimited DVR of saved shows. The one missing feature though is the ability to Cast to Chromecast devices.
With the release, the skinny bundle now supports iOS, Android, and all major TV platforms including Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, and Android TV — which they released in December. Android users on devices like Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel can find the Philo app on Google Play. The new app is currently rolling out, so users may not see it right away.
Philo recently consolidated their plans, so now you get channels like AMC, A+E, MTV, Discovery, Comedy Central, Hallmark, as well as ones like American Heroes, Cooking Channel, Destination America, Discovery Family, Discovery Life, Logo, and Nicktoons for just $20 a month. The service includes can also be used on 35+ participating TVE apps.
