“WandaVision” follows two MCA superheroes — Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) — as they investigate something amiss in their universe. The series appears to be partly set in the suburban 1950s and boasts a sitcom sensibility, judging by early looks at the teaser trailer.
Jac Schaeffer (“Timer,” “The Hustle”) has been tapped as producer, showrunner and head writer for “WandaVision.” She is also writing the upcoming Marvel film “Black Widow.” MCU newcomers Teyonah Parris and Kathryn Hahn have been added to the cast.
“Loki,” also part of Disney+’s Marvel lineup, is being slated for a 2021 release; it stars Tom Hiddleston as the trickster god. Gugu Mbatha-Raw (“The Morning Show”) has also joined the series, though the streamer has been silent on any plot points in the highly anticipated series.
As fans know, much of the Marvel universe is interconnected. “Loki” ties into the upcoming sequel “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness,” out May 7. It stars Olson and Benedict Cumberbatch (“Sherlock,” “Avengers” films”) and is directed by Sam Raimi.
Other MCU shows on board at the streamer include “Ms. Marvel,” Marvel’s first Muslim superhero, “Hawkeye,” “Falcon and Winter Soldier,” “She-Hulk” and “Moon Knight.”
“Falcon and Winter Soldier” is expected in August.
