Shoppers Bought Millions of Fire TV Devices on Amazon Prime Day

Amazon announced the results of their Black Friday in July event - Amazon Prime Day and it was a win for their Fire TV devices.

On Prime Day, Amazon was selling the Fire TV Stick for only $20 (normally $40) and Fire TV for $35 (normally $70). The deep discounts seemed to work as customers bought millions of Fire TV devices globally during Prime Day.

In fact, July 16 was the best sales day ever for Fire TV devices. The retailer is hoping that the discounts on the streaming devices can help propel their Prime Video service which still trying to catch up to Netflix in both content and viewership.

Amazon also had success with their televisions with built in Fire TV. The 50” Toshiba 4K Ultra HD Fire TV Edition and the 43” Toshiba 4K Ultra HD Fire TV Edition became the best-selling TV deals in Amazon history. The televisions sold 6x as many as last year’s Fire TV Edition deal on Prime Day.

The good news is even though Prime Day is over, there are still some good deals for cord cutters. If you are looking for a Roku device, you can get the Roku Streaming Stick for only $35 (normally $50) which is an all-time low.
