Sling TV’s Free ‘Happy Hour’ Entertains Viewers With More Than 50 Live Channels

Sling TV is offering its service free at 5 p.m. to midnight local time for a limited time.

The streamers’ “Happy Hour Across America” provides the Sling Blue service to new customers. It includes more than 50 live channels, free cloud DVR and 50,000-plus on-demand titles. Users can also view on three screens.

Channels in the Sling Blue option include, among others: A&E, AMC, Bravo, CNN, E!, FOX News, FX, HGTV, HLN, MSNBC, TLC.

Warren Schlichting, group president, Sling TV, stated: “Since we can’t serve you a beverage or basket of hot wings, we’re introducing a new kind of happy hour – TV on the house every night. Much like a real happy hour, TV is often a shared experience. So grab your favorite refreshment, tune in with your friends and family, and get those group chats ready.”

The COVID-19 crisis has caused huge spikes in TV viewing. Sling TV reports that TV news numbers on rose 164 percent on its platform. But by 6 p.m. ET, its viewers are switching to entertainment shows.
Sling TV has also included free previews for premium channels, such as Epix, which is currently streaming “Belgravia,” the show written by Julian Fellows (“Downton Abbey”).

The streamer, currently involved in a potential carriage dispute, provides more than 700 channels, including Latino and international services. Available on all major streaming devices, smart televisions, tablets, game consoles, computers and smartphones. Sling TV offers two market streaming services: Sling Orange and Sling Blue.
