“The Mandalorian” has been a major hit for Disney+ and it seems the streaming service is going to continue giving the people what they want. Showrunner Jon Favreau recently revealed that the show has been renewed for a second season and is set to premiere next fall. Favreau also hinted at an appearance from the Gamorrean — a green, pig-like creature — that made its debut in “Return of the Jedi.”

“The Mandalorian,” premiered along with Disney+ on Nov. 12. The show became an instant hit on the platform, garnering 40 million “demand expressions” and a stronger U.S. demand than some of 2019’s biggest streaming originals — Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy,” “When They See Us” and “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance,” as well as Amazon Prime Video’s “Good Omens” — in its first four days, according to data from Parrot Analytics. The series also took the No. 3 spot on a ranking of the most in-demand digital originals among U.S. viewers, Variety reported.

The show’s characters also resonated with fans. While the title character had the ladies swooning, it was Baby Yoda who stole the show. The character became the subject of a plethora of internet memes causing Disney+ to add him to its gallery of profile icons available on the platform.

You can stream “The Mandalorian” and the entire Disney+ film and TV show library, including hundreds of movies and shows with a 7-Day Free Trial.
