Paramount+ & Showtime Streaming Bundle Pricing Set at $11.99 a Month, Bigger Discounts for Annual Bundles

Mike Nelson

ViacomCBS has settled on pricing for the streaming bundle that will let you get Paramount Plus and Showtime with a substantial savings. The company offers two streaming bundles: The Paramount+ Essentials and Showtime Bundle is $11.99 a month. The Paramount+ Premium Ad-Free Plan is $14.99 a month.

For the last six weeks, they had offered a limited time discount on the bundle that priced it at $9.99 a month with ads and $12.99 a month ad-free.

Purchasing an annual plan for the two plans gives an even deeper discount for the bundles: the Paramount+ Essentials and Showtime Bundle is available for $119.99 per year (that’s $10/month), while the Paramount+ Premium Ad-Free Plan is available for $149.99 per year ($12.50/month) — similar to the earlier offer.

All of the plans include a one-week free trial for new subscribers.

Subscribers were offered discounted introductory pricing through Oct. 20. This offer solidifies the pricing for the bundle, while keeping a substantial discount over the regular price for the services if purchased separately.

“This powerhouse bundle gives us the opportunity to connect ViacomCBS’ diverse and differentiated cross-genre content slate with even more consumers,” said Tom Ryan, President and Chief Executive Officer, ViacomCBS Streaming when the introductory plan was first unveiled. “Paramount+ and SHOWTIME are both experiencing tremendous growth and momentum, and we expect this competitively priced bundle to only further expand the reach of both services.”

Last year, ViacomCBS launched a deal that allowed Apple TV+ subscribers ($4.99 a month) to receive Paramount+ Ad-Free ($9.99) and Showtime ($10.99) for just $9.99 a month. However, they discontinued that offer to new subscribers in February.

In September, ViacomCBS Executive Vice President and CFO Naveen Chopra, speaking at a Bank of America Securities conference on the potential for the bundle, “We’ve sort of built our streaming strategy around the notion of a streaming ecosystem that has a free, pay and premium component to it,” Chopra said, referring to the company’s three primary streaming products — Pluto TV, Paramount+, and Showtime.

Chopra said the strategy gives the company the opportunity to cross-pollinate between the three services, while at the same time serving the broadest base of potential consumers.

“We’ve got a Paramount Plus-Showtime bundle that we’ll be launching later this month,” he said. “I think we found interesting ways to create value out of that ecosystem by sampling; by doing promotions; by creating bundles across those different services.”

“We really like what we can do from a marketing and an acquisition perspective with that portfolio,” Chopra said, referring to the three streaming platforms. “Having all three services does unlock incremental value.”

  • Paramount Plus

Paramount+ is a subscription video streaming service that includes on-demand access to 40,000+ TV show episodes from BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and more. The lineup includes “1883,” “Tulsa King,” “Star Trek: Discovery,” Nickelodeon’s “SpongeBob SquarePants,” and MTV’s “Laguna Beach.” From well-loved franchises to compelling originals, Paramount+ offers a great library worth streaming. Live NFL games are included. The service also offers the option to watch your live CBS affiliate.

Subscribers can choose between the Essentials Plan (which includes ads) for $4.99/month, or go commercial-free with the Premium Plan for $9.99/month. Subscribers can add Showtime to either plan for an additional fee.

With their Premium Plan, in addition to not having ads, you will also get access to your local CBS affiliate to stream your local news, prime-time lineup, and late-night. You will also be able to download offline and watch select shows in 4K.

With the lower cost “Essential” plan, you will still be able to watch live NFL games, Champions League, and national news – but you will no longer get your local CBS affiliate.

With their new app, enjoy advanced recommendations, curated homepages, and new content categories while still being able to stream major live sports like NFL, College Football, College Basketball. Sports fans will also appreciate the service’s inclusion of NFL on CBS, PGA Tour, along with every match of UEFA Champions League and Serie A.

The service was previously called CBS All Access.

  • SHOWTIME

SHOWTIME offers a subscription video streaming service that gives access to content on Showtime without the need of a cable subscription. With your subscription, you’ll get access to all of their current originals like Yellowjackets, Billions, and American Gigolo. If you choose to bundle Showtime with Paramount+, you can get both services for $11.99/month.

With your subscription, you’ll also get access to their critically acclaimed catalog of previous shows like Shameless, Homeland, Ray Donovan, Dexter, Weeds, Nurse Jackie, House of Lies, Californication, Queer as Folk, and The L Word.

SHOWTIME also has new-release films from CBS Films, Amblin Partners, and IFC Films, which appear on the streaming service 7-8 months after they are in theaters. Every month they also have hundreds of additional older movies from major movie studios.

You can subscribe for $10.99 a month either directly from SHOWTIME, or through Amazon Prime Video Channels, Apple TV Channels, or Roku Premium Subscriptions.

  • Pluto TV

Pluto TV is a free live TV streaming service that provides more than 350 channels of live TV and thousands of on demand movies and TV shows.

Most of what you’ll find on Pluto TV qualifies as “background television.” It’s fine to keep on while you’re scrolling on your phone or cooking something in the kitchen.

Because these aren’t traditional live TV channels, it’s not a great option for live events, news, or sports, but it’s a solid choice for cord cutters who want to supplement their other services with some “comfort food” TV. You’ll find channels dedicated to “Star Trek,” “CSI,” “Jersey Shore,” “Survivor,” and “The Amazing Race.”
