Hold tight DC Universe fans, you don’t have to get HBO Max in order to watch your shows. WarnerMedia officially announced the launch of its own streaming service, HBO Max, on Tuesday. The service, which is set to launch in the fall, will be a competitor to Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Plus.
With a slew of new programming launching on the service, fans of the DC Universe were left wondering what will become of their programming, once HBO Max launches. Viewers need not worry, however, as reports are saying everything will remain as is. DC Universe, along with CW Seed, HBO Go and HBO Now will remain as separate entities, even though their programming will also be offered on HBO Max.
Along with Friends, HBO Max will also be the new streaming home for all fare from The CW (which was previously housed at Netflix) as well as original feature films from prolific producer Greg Berlanti and Reese Witherspoon.
HBO Max will also be the exclusive streaming home for all episodes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as well as Pretty Little Liars. Those will join The CW originals starting with Batwoman and Riverdale spinoff, Katy Keene. The CW’s streaming deal with Netflix expired in May. Current CW series already streaming on Netflix (like Riverdale and The Flash) will continue to do so until they wrap their runs.
