NVIDIA released their SHIELD Software Experience 7.2.3 for NVIDIA SHIELD devices today and it came with a surprise. The device can now use the Xbox Elite Controller ($149), the high-end gaming controller from Microsoft. This gives existing Xbox users with the controller the ability to game without the need of the Shield’s own controller.
Additionally, the SHIELD now supports the ability to Restart & Rescan Wi-Fi networks without rebooting your device. This will definitely save time for users with less than stellar wireless connections.
Finally, the update also adds the NHL App, which was made available on Android TV devices in December.
It is expected that the rollout will begin today, so expect your SHIELD to receive an OTA update in the next few days.
