All 9 ‘Watchmen’ Episodes to Stream Free on HBO

Fern Siegel

It’s a gift to fans: From June 19-21, HBO will stream the superhero drama series, which showcases black voices and experiences, on HBO.com, Free on Demand and HBO Latino.

The offer dovetails with Juneteenth, the day in 1865 when all slaves in Texas, the farthest outpost of the South, were freed.

“Watchmen” kicks off at 1 p.m. ET/PT.

The “Watchmen” cast includes Regina King, Tim Nelson Blake, Don Johnson, Sarah Vickers, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Louis Gossett, Jr. Jeremy Irons and Jean Smart appear in later episodes.

Created by Damon Lindelof (“Lost”), it continues the 1987 DC Comics series “Watchmen,” based on the graphic novel. However, Lindelof, who is the series’ writer/executive producer, considers it a remix, since he added new characters and conflicts.

The series is set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, present-day. The Seventh Kavalry, a white supremacist group angry about perceived racial injustices, is waging a war against minorities and the police.

The streamer is also offering additional free titles this weekend, including “Being Serena,” “Bessie,” “Whoopi Goldberg presents Moms Mabley,” “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” and a few episodes of “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.”

Here are the air times for “Watchmen”:
