Apple Announces Apple TV+ with Original Shows from Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Jason Momoa, & More

Over the past year, there have been leaks of shows and movies that would be coming to Apple’s streaming service. Today, Apple unveiled some of the shows upcoming on their new streaming service which will launch this Fall. The service which the company did not reveal pricing for will be ad-free and offer offline support.

At the keynote, creators like Oprah, J.J. Abrams, Steven Spielberg, and Kumail Nanjiani, as well as the stars for the upcoming series like Reese Witherspoon, Steve Carrell, Jennifer Aniston, Jason Momoa, and Alfre Woodard took the stage to tease the new shows.

‘Amazing Stories’

An anthology series by Steven Spielberg that features unreal fantasy and horror stories like Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits.

‘The Morning Show’

A TV drama about the rivalry of morning TV shows and interpersonal politics between genders in the workplace starring Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Steve Carrell.

‘See’

A TV drama starring Jason Momoa & Alfre Woodard that takes place in “a future when the human race has lost the sense of sight, and society has had to find new ways to interact, to build, to hunt, to survive. All of that is challenged when a set of twins with sight is born.”

‘Little America’

An anthology series by Kumail Nanjiani following the human stories of immigrants around the country.

‘Helpsters’

A preschool focused series by Sesame Street Workshop that helps kids learn coding skills.

‘Little Voice’

A TV drama by J.J. Abrams & Sara Bareilles about a young woman who has to find her voice as a musician and a person as an up-and-coming artist.

While not at the event, last month it was revealed that Brie Larson had signed on to star in a CIA drama for Apple, following news that another Marvel star, Chris Evans, will be the lead role in Defending Jacob, which tells story of a father dealing with the accusation that his 14-year-old son is a murderer.

They also have quietly acquired programming including a J.J. Abrams limited series starring Jennifer Garner, a futuristic drama from Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence, and thriller series from M. Night Shyamalan.

The company has also partnered with A24 who produced films like Lady Bird and Moonlight to make films for the service.
