Last week, Comcast announced that they would be giving a free streaming device to all Internet-only customers, now they’re improving your Internet speeds. Xfinity Internet customers will begin seeing as much as a 25% speed boost across various plans.
Western Region
- Performance: 60 Mbps to 75 Mbps
- Performance Pro: 150 Mbps to 175 Mbps
- Blast: 250 Mbps to 275 Mbps
- Extreme: 400 Mbps to 500 Mbps
Central & Southeastern Region
- Performance: 60 Mbps to 100 Mbps
- Blast: 150 Mbps to 200 Mbps
- Extreme: 250 Mbps to 300 Mbps
- Extreme Pro: 400 Mbps to 600 Mbps
The biggest bump will be for those on Extreme (in the West) and Extreme Pro (in Central & Southeast) which will see speeds go from 400 Mbps to over half a gigabit in speed. While the speed increase is planned to rollout nationwide, the free increase will first go effect in Oregon and Washington, as well as the Southeast like Georgia and Tennessee, followed by other areas in the West region. The company has plans to expand this to the Northeast as well.
While many think of Comcast as a cable company, they have transitioned to a strong focus on High-Speed Internet. As of July, the company had over 26 million Internet customers. The company has quadrupled its overall network capacity and doubled its fiber miles, deployed gigabit speeds to more homes than any other Internet Service Provider
