
Big Shot, the basketball dramedy, was picked up by Disney+ for a second season. Dean Lorey will return as showrunner on the series, which will resume production in 2022. “Big Shot” centers on Stamos’ Marvyn Korn, a disgraced NCAA basketball coach who is given a chance at redemption with a coaching position at an elite private high school for girls.

- Reservation Dogs has been greenlit for a second season. The show is streaming its first season under the “FX on Hulu” banner and is expected to return next year. The eight-episode first season debuted to critical acclaim. The season finale is slated for Sept. 20. Co-created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi (Oscar winner for Jojo Rabbit), Reservation Dogs follows four Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma “who steal, rob and save in order to get to the exotic, mysterious and faraway land of California,” according to the streamer.

Hulu is a video streaming service that gives access to thousands of full seasons of exclusive series, hit movies, kids shows, and Hulu Originals like The Handmaid’s Tale.

Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) and her production company Aluna Entertainment have signed a multi-year first-look film deal with Netflix. They will develop and produce feature films that focus on women’s experiences.

The Film Detective, the classic film restoration and streaming company, a division of Cinedigm, has acquired Los Angeles-based Holland Releasing’s motion picture library of over 100 classic films and television shows. The library includes rare archival film prints and negatives of Hollywood classics, such as Frank Capra’s Meet John Doe (1941), Made for Each Other (1939), and The Outlaw (1943). The Film Detective has released its classic movie app on the web, Android, iOS, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV and is available live on Sling TV, STIRR, Plex, Local Now, Rakuten TV and DistroTV.

Jungle Cruise was released on Disney+ over the Labor Day weekend as a Premium VOD for $29.99. At present, it leads other PVOD titles at Vudu. Also, iTunes has it as No. 3, while GooglePlay has it at No. 5.

Lego Star Wars Terrifying Tales, will premiere Oct. 1 on Disney+. The just-released trailer features a first look at the three tales Darth Vader’s loyal servant Vaneé (Tony Hale) will spin: “The Lost Boy,” the story of how a young Ben Solo first meets Ren; “The Dueling Monstrosities,” which imagines how Darth Maul and General Grievous were reborn; and “The Wookiee’s Paw,” which posits Luke Skywalker getting his greatest wishes granted.

ESPN+ has a new ad campaign that asks sports fans to “Join the Evolution.” Seth Ader, vice president, brand marketing, ESPN, said: “Using imagery that highlights the evolution of sports and fandom, this campaign shows how ESPN+ is meeting fans where they are going — in this case, the forefront of the sports streaming experience.” The creative from the Preacher agency uses archival and modern footage to show how ESPN+’s exclusive features and original content bring sports to fans in real-time. ESPN+ reported 14.9 million subscribers as of July 3.
