Dish & Univision Reach Long-Term Deal, but Univision & UniMás Won’t Return to Sling

In June, Sling TV lost Univision, UniMás, and El Rey in a carriage dispute between their parent company, Dish, and Univision. Today after 9 month holdout, the two companies have come to terms to a long-term deal.

Starting today, the following channels are once again available to DISH and DishLATINO customers, depending upon their programming package: Univision, UniMás, Univision Deportes Network, Galavisión, Tlnovelas and FOROtv.

Erik Carlson, DISH CEO:

“We want to thank our DISH customers for their patience as we worked to reach an agreement that is fair to all parties, especially our customers. For more than 20 years, DISH has led our industry in serving the U.S. Hispanic community, and today’s announcement is reflective of our commitment to delivering quality content at the right value.”

Unfortunately for cord-cutters, the deal does not include Sling TV. In a statement to The Streamable, a representative of Sling said:

“We were able to reach an agreement with Univision to carry its channels on DISH. The new agreement does not include Sling TV. For those customers who prefer to access Univision’s content in other ways, it is still available from Univision directly via streaming options, including the Univision Now and Univision Deportes apps, or for free with an over-the-air antenna.”
