Peacock to Launch on Vizio SmartCast and LG Smart TVs on July 15

New streaming service Peacock will be available nationally on Vizio SmartCast and LG Smart TVs when it launches on July 15, NBCUniversal announced Wednesday.

“We want to provide fans of Peacock’s vast programming a choice of how and where they consume our content when we launch nationally next month,” said Matt Bond, chairman of content distribution at NBCUniversal. “Vizio and LG are great partners that will help provide these fans the viewing experience they’ve come to expect from us at NBCUniversal.”

The Peacock app will be accessible LG Smart TV’s “Home Launcher” and the built-in application on the Vizio SmartCast home screen. The app will provide customers with the opportunity to directly sign up for Peacock Free, or upgrade to Peacock Premium.

“With increasing consumption on smart TVs, we are happy to make it easy for Peacock customers with Vizio and LG smart televisions to stream all our content,” said Maggie McLean Suniewick, president of business development and partnerships for Peacock. “We offer Peacock as free to our distribution partners because we want people everywhere to enjoy Peacock where and when they want it.”

On Tuesday, the company announced the service will be available on Android and Android TV devices (with a free three-month trial of Peacock Premium), as well as Chromecast and Chromecast built-in devices.

In May, NBCUniversal announced that Peacock would also be available on Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD for its national launch. Users will be able to find Peacock’s content library in Apple’s Watch Now section. To build specific preferences, they can add shows, movies and live sports in the Up Next section. Siri also searches for Peacock content.

The company also announced the first slate of originals that will be available when it launches nationwide.

In the drama category, Peacock will launch with “Brave New World” – based on the novel by Aldous Huxley – and “The Capture,” a conspiracy thriller that looks at a troubling world of fake news and the extraordinary capabilities of the intelligence services.

For sports fans, Peacock is offering “In Deep with Ryan Lochte,” which follows Lochte as he tries to put the 2016 Rio Olympics scandal behind him and aims to make Team USA for the 2021 Games. Peacock will also carry “Lost Speedways,” an exploratory look at great racing cathedrals of the past.

The service will also premiere “Curious George,” “Cleopatra in Space​” and “Where’s Waldo?” for kids.

Comcast’s Xfinity X1 and Flex customers got a three-month head start on Peacock’s content. On April 15, Comcast made the streaming service available to Xfinity X1 and Flex users.
