Pluto TV Debuts ‘Star Trek’ Channel, Opens With ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’

Trekkies rejoice! The “Star Trek” channel on Pluto TV is now live. The first show up is “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

Pluto TV was acquired by ViacomCBS in January 2019 for $340 million. And it’s now a second platform to stream the parent company’s library. That includes the first 10 seasons of “South Park,” “Survivor,” “MacGyver,” “Melrose Place,” “Moesha” and “CSI: New York.”

(Some “Star Trek” series are still available on the CBS All Access subscription service.)

Pluto TV offers 250-plus channels, from news to comedy. The AVOD counts 22 million active users. It has an eclectic array of shows — from music, news and documentaries to movies and esports.

Tom Ryan, CEO-cofounder of Pluto TV, stated: “With over 100,000 hours of unique content in the U.S. alone, now supplemented by these iconic ViacomCBS franchises, Pluto TV is one of the broadest and deepest streaming services in the world, and guaranteed to offer something for everyone, on any device, for free.”

In May, Pluto TV announced an alliance with TiVO and Verizon.
