Rapper Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson to Executive Produce Animated Series for Quibi

“Trill League,” an animated black superhero comedy series, is coming to Quibi, executive produced by rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.

Based on the graphic novel by Anthony Piper, the series posits a league of black superheroes that save the world from villains and Internet trolls. The show, which combines anime and hip hop, is written by Piper and Jameel Saleem (“South Park”).

The satiric series is produced by 3 Arts Entertainment and G-Unit Film & Television in association with Lionsgate Television.

Jackson called Quibi an “innovative platform” and noted the co-writers “have created a world we haven’t seen before in ‘Trill League.’” Piper added the project fulfilled “this lifelong dream of creating a world with voices which reflected the one I came from.”

Actor-rapper Jackson will receive a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star in January 2020. The Grammy Award winner has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. His TV credits include the variety show “50 Central” on BET and two dramas for Sony Crackle, including the “The Oath” and “RPM,” currently in development.

Mobile platform Quibi, led by former DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg and CEO Meg Whitman, launches April 6, 2020. It’s signing artists in various genres, including Ridley Scott, who will produce a terrifying game drama “CURS_R.”
