Report: WarnerMedia Streaming Service to Include Licensed Content

In a report in Variety, a company insider shared that WarnerMedia is open to licensing third-party content for the service. This means that there could be films and series outside of those from WarnerMedia’s Warner Bros. and HBO.

The service which will go head-to-head against Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and the upcoming Disney+, is open to include other providers. There has not been any firm decision on the matter, but they could include foreign and independent movies from FilmStruck, the streaming service they owned and shut down last month. There has also been discussion to license from Comcast’s NBCUniversal, who currently does not have their own streaming service.

The report also shared that while they plan to scale the service internationally, the expect the rollout late next year to start in the U.S.
