It seems DreamWorks Animation’s “Trolls World Tour” had an incredible opening weekend on FandangoNOW as the video-on-demand service saw its best weekend since launching. The service announced that “Trolls World Tour” shot to the top of the pack, quickly becoming the most pre-ordered title of all time, best-selling film on its opening day and best-selling film during its first three days of digital release on the platform.

“Following weeks of anticipation for its home premiere, ‘Trolls World Tour’ is now FandangoNOW’s streaming debut champ, with the best preorders, first day and opening weekend sales we’ve ever seen,” said FandangoNOW head Cameron Douglas. “We’re pleased that families looking for a much-needed entertainment break are enjoying DreamWorks Animation’s latest movie on our service.”

The news comes as studios are turning to streaming services and making films available for digital release earlier than normal. Recently, Disney released “Onward,” a Pixar animated film, for digital purchase months ahead of schedule. The film, which hit theaters on March 6, was available on Disney+ on April 3.

Prior to that, Warner Bros. announced the digital release “Birds of Prey” would come early as well. The film, which is a spinoff to 2017’s “Suicide Squad,” was made available for digital purchase on March 24 for $19.99.

Other studio films such as “The Hunt,” “Emma” and “The Invisible Man” got an early VOD release on March 20. The films are currently available for a 48-hour rental period at a suggested retail price of $19.99 in the U.S.
