Tubi Partners With TV Azteca, Expands Service Into Mexico

Tubi announced today they have partnered up with TV Azteca — one of the two largest producers of Spanish-language TV programming globally — and will expand the service into Mexico later this year. Through the deal, TV Azteca will promote Tubi to its audience and provide advertising sales for the streaming service. Also, some of TV Azteca’s popular shows will be free to Tubi customers in Mexico, including “MasterChef Mexico,” “Enamorándonos” and “Exatlón Mexico.”

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with a world-class partner and, together with TV Azteca, launch a new free streaming home to some of Mexico’s most celebrated television franchises,” said Farhad Massoudi, CEO of Tubi. “Our expansion into Latin America is just beginning and we look forward to announcing additional territories in the future.”

In addition, Tubi will partner with Hisense and their Vidaa platform to be the exclusive connected TV partner in Mexico. The deal brings Tubi preloaded on the Vidaa TV homepage, with content listed in the “Vidaa Free” section of the platform.

Earlier this month, Tubi announced they signed a deal with Hisense — the third-largest television manufacturer in the world — to bring content to Vidaa International. Starting spring 2020, Tubi customers in the U.S., Canada and Australia will have access to Tubi’s large library of content on the new Vidaa platform. And later this year, Tubi will launch in the UK where consumers will have access to Vidaa as well. The new Hisense TVs powered by Vidaa will have Tubi preloaded and placed on home screens.

Since the launch of the Tubi app in 2014, the platform has shown a steady amount of growth.
They announced that they surpassed 20 million monthly active users in May, with customers watching over 94 million hours of content. In September 2019, Tubi announced customers had streamed over 132 million hours of content — a 40 percent increase since May.
