Amazon Schedules Final Season of ‘Bosch’

Amazon Prime Video is renewing the police drama series “Bosch” for its seventh and final season. The series opened in 2014 with Titus Welliver (“Lost,” “Deadwood,” “Argo”) playing Harry Bosch, an LAPD homicide detective accused of murder.

The show is the streamer’s first original drama series and its longest-running original to date.

Bosch is a former Army Special Forces operative, a bit of a renegade with a respect for rules. The series is based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling books.

The renewal order precedes the sixth season, which debuts later this year. Connelly told Deadline: “I’m proud of what we have accomplished with ‘Bosch’ … It’s bittersweet, but all good things come to an end, and I am happy that we will be able to go out the way we want to.”

Connelly also gave a shout-out to Welliver: “There could not have been a better actor to play this role or a better team player to build this show around.”

Albert Cheng, COO-co-head of television at Amazon Studios, added that “Bosch” “helped define us as a home for smartly written, captivating series.”

The final season will have Bosch pursue murder investigations against the backdrop of white-collar crime and the street-level drug trade.

“Bosch” was developed by Eric Overmyer (“Treme,” The Wire”) and produced by Fabrik, a Red Arrow Studios company.

Separately, the streamer just announced it picked up “The English,” starring Emily Blunt, from the BBC.
