Apple TV Plus Premieres Tom Hanks’ ‘Greyhound,’ ‘Greatness Code’ and Sara Bareilles’ ‘Little Voice’

Three singular shows are debuting on Apple TV+ .

Tom Hanks’ movie “Greyhound” chronicles the dramatic Battle of the Atlantic, the Allies vs. the Nazis.

Hanks’ film, inspired by real events, is adapted from C.S. Forester’s “The Good Shepherd.” It was originally headed for a big screen release this June. The pandemic forced the production, in which Hanks also produces and stars, to switch gears.

He initially claimed to be heartbroken over the small-screen version, but the next day praised Apple TV on “TODAY” saying: “I’m actually thrilled that Apple TV is making it possible for everybody to see it. It is going to be viewable, and otherwise, we would have languished in a vault for a movie that, look, is 88 minutes of a thematic story that does speak to what we’re all going through right now.”

Also launching is the docuseries “Greatness Code.” The short-form series is directed by Gotham Chopra. According to Apple, “Greatness Code” will “spotlight untold stories from the greatest athletes in the world.”

The seven-episode series highlights an array of sports figures, such as basketball legend LeBron James, soccer star Alex Morgan, Usain Bolt, the world’s fastest man, and Katie Ledecky, five-time Olympic champion swimmer, and six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, among others.

Each episode zeroes in on critical moment in an athlete’s career.

Finally, the dramedy “Little Voice” is about the search to discover, in your 20s, your own voice.

Sara Bareilles (“Waitress”) will provide original music; Jessie Nelson (“I Am Sam”) writes and directs the first episode. “Little Voice” is the title of Bareilles’ breakthrough album, including the hit single “Love Song,” which landed her Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Grammy nominations.

Executive producers include Nelson, Bareilles, J.J. Abrams (“Lost”) and Ben Stephenson. “Little Voices” is produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

The first three episodes of “Little Voice” will premiere today. New episodes will debut every Friday thereafter.
