Drake to Executive Produce and Direct an Episode of ‘48 Laws of Power’ for Quibi

Quibi can add rapper Drake to its lineup of celebrities. The mobile streamer announced a new series — “48 Laws of Power” — based on Robert Greene’s bestseller, which has sold more than 2 million books.

Drake will executive produce and direct an episode; his production company Dreamcrew and Anonymous Content have partnered with the platform, which launches April 6.

The book chronicles 3,000 years of power, noting particular figures, such as Sun Tzu and Louis XIV, to identify 48 “laws” to retain it.

“When Drake and I sat down with Robert Greene, it was incredibly inspiring. The laws allow for a wide range of dynamic storytelling. Quibi allows us to tell these stories in bite-sized chapters similar to the book,” stated co-producer Adel “Future” Nur.

Greene added: “I have always thought ‘The 48 Laws of Power’ would be a perfect fit for a series, bringing to life the timeless Machiavellian game of power as portrayed in the book.”

Drake is no stranger to TV productions; he previously produced the series “Euphoria” for HBO. The singer also charted the most songs (208) of any artist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100.

Quibi is scheduling 175 original short-form series, seven-to-10 minutes in length, its first year. That totals more than 8,500 original episodes.

The streamer, which is offering a free 90-day trial, has two versions: Ad-free for $7.99 and $4.99 for those who accept pre-roll ads.
