HBO Max Debuts Amy Schumer’s ‘Expecting Amy,’ Animated Comedy ‘Close Enough’

HBO Max is debuting two shows today: ”Expecting Amy” and “Close Enough.”

Comedian Amy Schumer is open about her life — be it health or marriage. So it’s not surprising the three-part docuseries “Expecting Amy” is a candid look at the stand-up’s life on the road while pregnant. (She’s now the mom of year-old Gene.)

The docuseries gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at how tough life on the road can be, especially while enduring a difficult pregnancy. It also reveals her marriage to chef Chris Fischer and how they learned of his diagnosis on the autism spectrum.

“Close Enough” is an animated series about a millennial couple, their 5-year-old daughter and their divorced friends — who all live together in Los Angeles. J.G Quintel (“Regular Show”) created, directs and helps voice the series.

Other cast members include Gabrielle Walsh, Jason Mantzoukas, Kimiko Glenn, Jessica DiCicco, James Adomian and Danielle Brooks.

Quintel is known for exploring the adolescent-to-adulthood journey, with its pitfalls and uncertainties, while adding offbeat comedy to the mix.

Also on the animated front, “Infinity Train,” created by Owen Dennis, moves from Cartoon Network to HBO Max for season 3. The official synopsis for the new season reads: “In Book 3, Grace and Simon are the leaders of the Apex, an anarchic group of kids on a mysterious train. During one of their destructive missions, Grace and Simon get separated from the rest of the Apex and must find their way back.”

The first two seasons of “Infinity Train” are available on HBO Max. Season three is expected later this summer.

The streamer also acquired “Class Action Park,” a documentary about a New Jersey amusement park, Action Park, known as the most dangerous water park in the world in the 1980s and 1990s. The doc includes original animation and interviews with those who shared their park experiences.

Safety was ignored; employees were often drunk teens tending to even drunker guests. The man who conceived the park created a fake insurance company in the Cayman Islands to escape insurance regulations.

Chris Charles Scott and Seth Porges produced and directed the aptly titled film, which arrives in August.
