About ‘Home Sweet Home’
The series gives families an intimate challenge of swapping homes with another family. 18 families will be involved in the first season’s experiment and must complete household tasks, live with their loved ones, and get a fresh perspective. They must fully immerse themselves in their new culture, fashion, and lifestyles.
In the trailer, the families learn how to live in someone else’s space. One contestant discovers the family they swapped homes with is vegan. Another contestant wonders why the other family doesn’t have a TV in their home. Other families may own a ranch with a dozen horses or be “a proud Greek Orthodox family.” Though everyone has a unique background, the show empowers its families to embrace what we all have in common.
About the series, DuVernay asked, “What if we could do it? Go into each other’s most intimate spaces and go home with each other?”
