The series finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine comes with an incredibly vague description: so far, the hour-long episode is titled just “The Last Day”, and boasts a synopsis of remarkable simplicity, stating only “The series finale.”

Bonus points for playing the cards close to the vest. Already, speculation is running wild that this will mark Det. Peralta’s last day on the force — hence the title — which kills the series along with it. Such speculation traces back to Season 8’s premiere, in which Peralta has something of a long, dark night of the soul. He finds it hard to accept what being a cop in 2021 actually means, and this finale may well provide just the ending that’s required of such a proposition.

Regardless, this is the season that ends nearly a decade of one of NBC’s flagship programs, so if you’re ready to see it out with a bang, this is the time to do so. Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s final season has been running on NBC on Thursdays at 8 pm ET/PT.
