As if being animated wasn’t a reason enough to watch, “The Politics Episode” of “One Day at a Time” will feature two of the best entertainers going head to head — Rita Moreno and Gloria Estefan. The latter will reprise her guest role as Tia Mirtha on the groundbreaking show and will treat fans to a parody duet of her hit “Mi Tierra” with Moreno. “The Politics Episode” airs tonight on Pop TV at 9:30 p.m. ET.

In addition to Estefan, tonight’s episode also sees Melissa Fumero returning to the series as conservative cousin Estrellita. Lin-Manuel Miranda will also be another addition as he makes his debut on the show as Tio Juanito.
The episode follows Penelope, played by Justina Machado, as she tries to keep her cool when her family members, who have differing political views from her own, come to visit. The uncomfortable but necessary debate escalates to the point where Moreno’s character suggests the family settle their differences the old-fashioned way with a talent contest.
“We diss each other, and we’re doing it to the tune of her beautiful, wonderful, saucy song,” Moreno told Variety about her performance with Estefan. “It’s wonderful because she’s letting us borrow this song, and we’re parodying it. It’s very short but it’s very funny. We’re very nasty with each other — as you know, our characters despise each other. She had a great time writing it, and I had a super time singing it.”
