Patricia Arquette, Ben Stiller Team Up for Apple TV+ Series ‘Severance’

Patricia Arquette, who just won a Golden Globe for her performance in Hulu’s true-crime series “The Act,” will next star in “Severance” on Apple TV+.

Also featuring Adam Scott (“Parks and Recreation”), the 10-episode workplace drama will be directed and executive produced by Ben Stiller. Scott plays a man with a dark past trying to put his life together. Arquette, who claims an Emmy for “The Act” and an Oscar for “Boyhood,” will play Scott’s boss at the company.

“Severance” will be the third collaboration for Arquette and Stiller. He directed her in Showtime’s “Escape at Dannemora” and they costarred in “Flirting With Disaster.”

The show is written by Daniel Erickson and executive produced by Endeavor Content, which is behind two other Apple TV+ series: “See” and “Truth Be Told,” starring Octavia Spencer.

Two more anticipated scripted series are also coming to the streamer this month: “Little America” and “Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet.”

“Little America” is cowritten by Emily V. Gordon and her husband Kumail Nanjiani, the pair behind “The Big Sick,” which earned an Oscar nod for screenwriting. “The Big Sick” became one of the highest-grossing indie films of 2017 and now streams on Amazon Prime.

“Little America” focuses on inspiring and unusual stories of immigrants in the U.S. — from a teenage boy running a Utah motel after his parents are deported to India to a Ugandan woman who sells chocolate-chip cookies in Kentucky from a basket on her head to a gay Syrian refuge escaping abuse. All are based on an Epic Magazine series. The show debuts Jan. 17.

“Mythic Quest” is from Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day, the duo behind “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.” All nine half-hour episodes of the offbeat video game comedy series will be available on its debut. The story focuses on a popular medieval role-playing game and stars McElhenney as the quirky Ian Grimm, the video game company president. It launches Feb. 7.
