Peacock Names Ex-Hulu Boss Kelly Campbell as Its New President

Ex-Hulu boss Kelly Campbell is taking over as President of Peacock, according to a release from the streamer on Wednesday. Campbell will report to NBCUniversal Chairman Matt Strauss.

As Peacock’s new head, Campbell will be responsible for the streamer’s business and work on Peacock’s live and original programming with leadership across NBCUniversal’s television, film, news, and sports divisions.

“On the heels of Peacock’s success in its first year, we are thrilled to bring Kelly’s leadership and expertise to the team as we continue to accelerate Peacock’s vision and strategy,” said Strauss.

Campbell’s move comes on the heels of word coming out about a so-called relaunch of Peacock early in 2022. The word was tied to a leaked strategy deck last week.

The goal, according to the leaked info, is to set up Peacock as a “top 4 must-have SVOD (streaming video on demand)” platform. One of the major plans revealed in the deck is the plan to revamp Peacock’s interface. The biggest change is that starting in 2022, Peacock will be the exclusive home to all Universal movies after they leave theaters.

As Hulu’s president, Campbell led its live and on-demand business. She initially joined Hulu in 2017 as its Chief Marketing Officer, playing a role in accelerating the service’s growth and momentum. Prior to that, she was at Google for more than a decade, working in leadership and marketing roles across the Google Ads and Google Cloud businesses. Campbell has been recognized as one of Business Insider’s Most Innovative CMOs, the Adweek 50, AdAge’s Women to Watch, and Forbes’ Most Influential Global CMOs.

She will join the Peacock leadership team in November.
